New Musical Expressway to Yr Skull (Part 3)
It's a period of unprecedented activity for the Dead C - a new album, a tour of the USA and re-issues of the first two Dead C albums (DR503 and Eusa Kills) on lovely double vinyl.
Here's a link to a recording of their recent Chicago show:

And here is the obligatory YouTube clip - The Dead C live in Philadelphia. (The sound isn't great but then again, that has never been an issue for them when it comes to releasing records!)

New Musical Expressway to Yr Skull (Part 1)
Some cool shit and some truly bizarre mentalness are on display in this podcast. Idwal Fisher began life as a printed zine and has now made the transition to the blogosphere. This is it's first podcast. The host's West Yorkshire accent is gas.

Sound Stories RTE Radio One
Really cool show on RTE about sound and sound recording, hosted by Luke Clancy. Chris Watson (that's him above recording a camel) makes regular appearances.
Tomorrow’s show (Tues September 23) features Drew Daniels (Matmos) talking about his snail-activated thermin. (Snail drones?)
The show seems to bounce around the schedules, but you can catch it online too. http://www.rte.ie/radio1/soundstories/
Check out the archives.
(Check out Episode One, Season Three, where Chris Watson talks about recording a deathwatch beetle. It's fascinating and quite sad too - deathwatch beetles make sounds to attract a mate, however in the hubbub of the modern world, their desperate pleas are drowned out by the whir of hard drives and teenagers listening to the latest highly compressed hits on their mobile phones.)
You’ll need RealPlayer. (Boo)

recently purchased
times new viking - dig yourself (lp)
times new viking - present the paisley reich (lp)
klaus schultze - cyborg (2lp)
windy weber - i hate people (lp)
i am completely in love with times new viking's pop cacophony. they've mastered the lo-fi art of short, distorted, overloaded boy-girl shout-alongs. i'm really annoyed with myself for not going to their dublin show. the two tnv records are on siltbreeze. i still haven't got the new one - well i have it but i don't own it. yet.
the schultze record just arrived this morning. i haven't listened to it yet because i don't have a record player in work. not yet anyway.
windy weber is half of windy & carl - one of my favourite dream/drone poppers. this is windy's first solo release. it's two long tracks. It's not something you'd sit back and relax with. It's edgy and unsettling. if you are a windy carl fanboy like me, then you'll probably want to pick it up. the vinyl comes in a choice of colours - i got the purple, green and blue on clear vinyl. it's nice and all, but i reckon the blod red on clear vinyl is actually nicer. I'm not enough of a fan boy to buy a second copy. I got a free CD when I bought this - "desperate times" by everyone. it's shit.
i ordered some other stuff but it hasn't arrived yet.
